This documentary was filmed in 1991, during a particularly unstable period where a certain pogrom-like atmosphere was prevalent in the GDR––including on the streets of Berlin. It serves as a snapshot of the situation of Vietnamese migrants who had been socialized in different ways in GDR society. A film about legal and social instability, and about the coming and going of migrants at Berlin Schönefeld Airport.
The Truth Lies in Rostock
A documentary about the arson attacks on the accommodation of Vietnamese contract workers in Rostock-Lichtenhagen in 1992. The film was made thanks to the crucial involvement of the people who were under attack in the building, including Nguyen Do Thinh.
